TOURISM DIRECTIONS IN THE IMPLEMENTATION OF SUSTAINABLE TOURISM STRATEGY: INTERNATIONAL PRACTICES

Abstract. The article reveals the features of implementing approaches to implementing a sustainable tourism strategy through tourism companies and sustainable tourism participants. The concept of the “European Green Pioneer of Smart Tourism” is highlighted, which is an EU initiative and is implemented by the European Commission within the framework of implementing a sustainable tourism strategy. It is based on recognizing and rewarding smaller tourist destinations that have successfully implemented sustainable tourism development strategies using green transition practices. Modern effective solutions in sustainable tourism are explored, which include creating opportunities for cooperation and new partnerships and contributing to the development of sustainable tourism in destinations, bringing value to the national economy, the planet and people. It is determined that sustainable tourism requires constructive cooperation of all members of the territorial community in making decisions that affect the environment. Examples of European countries that demonstrate sustainable tourism projects based on local territorial communities are considered, in particular, including the principles of resource conservation of the environment, raising awareness of the importance of nature protection in sustainable tourism management. Sustainable management of tourism destinations involves implementing strategies to minimize carbon emissions, reduce waste, conserve water resources, and protect wildlife habitats. Therefore, it has been found that tourist destinations can reduce their ecological footprint and preserve natural wonders for future generations. The most important directions of implementation of the sustainable tourism strategy based on international tourism projects are highlighted. It is determined that the practice of sustainable tourism contributes to the preservation of the cultural heritage of the local community, environmental protection and economic sustainability of the region, which expands opportunities for small businesses and creates equal employment opportunities, and also allows to increase the social inclusion of the population.
