The purpose of this article is to examine the model of “economic man” from different perspectives by various schools of economic thought in line with global evolutionary process and development of economic science. In variety of views of the “economic man” have been analyzed, including those of the representatives of the classical economic school, Marxist, new-classical and otter modern schools. Fundamental differences in the approaches to the econo- mic accumulation of man qualities have been defined. The objective prerequisites of the transformation of “econo- mic man” model under intellectualization of labour and knowledge transfer have been presented. The author formu- late definition of “economic man” as the subject of economic relations, which is characterized by both rational and irrational behaviors. On the one hand he seeks to improve their well-being, but at the same time he deals with non- economic interests, certain ethical orientation. “Economic man” has three major social roles: owner, producer and consumer. Producer behavior may differ significantly from consumer’s. The author propose to analyze “economic man” as result of all social roles. It is logical to assume that in the transition to a market economy the model of “economic man” is also undergoing some changes. During this period appear “transitional” forms of human activity, values and norms of behavior. Economic behavior of individuals is largely determined by their personal qualities and characteristics. An important aspect to identify the features and construction of the model of Ukrainian “economic man” is to examine the motivations of economic behavior. Emphasized that the model of modern Ukrainian “economic man” should describe the economic behavior of individuals by paying special attention to the economic consciousness and economic orientation of the individual in accordance with the socio- political context in which they are formed.
