SUCCESS FACTORS OF RE-ENGINEERING OF SANATORIUM AND RESORT ENTERPRISES
Abstract
It was determined that today in Ukraine, more than half of the early modernization projects of the exist-ing sanatorium-resort enterprises were not completed or did not achieve final business results. Healthcare organiza-tions today face many challenges, including efficient service delivery, strategic success as well as business processes improvement. They are forced to focus on continuous improvement not only to compete and prosper, but also to simply survive under the influence of strong external forces such as technological breakthroughs, rapidly growing customer needs, globalization trends and political or economic factors. It is substantiated that reducing the cycle time, reducing the cost of execution, improving the quality of care and increasing the flexibility of responding to variations are the results of the effective implementation of business process reengineering of sanatorium-resort enterprises. It has been proven that IT is a key factor for reengineering the business processes of sanatorium-resort enterprises, on which the main changes are based. They are more than just process automation, as they focus on fundamental restructuring of the way of doing business and allow to improve a number of aspects in business process reengineering: transactional, geo-graphic, analytical, informational, etc. Certain critical moments (success factors) that must be taken into account for the successful implementation of business process reengineering in health care institutions, such as sanatoriums and resort facilities, are outlined. Initial conditions for obtaining positive changes and ensuring their permanence further from the implementation of the procedure of reengineering business processes of sanatorium-resort enterprises have been determined. It is substantiated that the reengineering of business processes is an important tool for meeting the needs of customers in various areas, including the service sector among which are medical services of sanatorium-resort institutions, however, in order to achieve the desired final business results in this area, the presence of a mixed reengineering team is necessary as well as certain initial conditions and success factors.
