ANALYTICAL CHARACTERISTICS OF TRENDS IN THE ATTRACTION OF FOREIGN INVESTMENTS IN THE ECONOMY OF UKRAINE: MACROECONOMIC, SECTORAL AND REGIONAL ASPECTS

Abstract

The article defines the importance and practical value of the study of the need for the country to attract foreign investments. The list of scientists whose works highlight the problems of international movement of foreign capital and management of investment processes in the national economy is given. A statistical analysis of the trends in the attraction of direct foreign investment in the economy of Ukraine for 2015-2021 was carried out. Prerequisites for strengthening the country's investment attractiveness and related to trends in GDP, average monthly wages, gross foreign debt, domestic capital investments, and the inflation index, are determined. A structural analysis of the geography of direct foreign investment in the economy of Ukraine was carried out. It was concluded that the largest investors in Ukraine are Cyprus, the Netherlands, and Switzerland. The sectoral structure of direct foreign investments in the economy of Ukraine is analyzed. It was determined that the largest volumes of investment capital are formed in production, financial and insurance activities, information and telecommunications. Analytical characteristics of the regional features of foreign investment attraction in the economy of Ukraine were given, and regions were divided into groups of leaders and outsiders. Kyiv, Poltava, Donetsk, Dnipropetrovsk, Lviv, Cherkasy, and Kharkiv regions are among the leaders in attracting foreign investments. The critical state of Ukraine's economy, which was formed due to the hybrid and military aggression of neighboring countries, was emphasized. Also, the main reasons for the slow integration of Ukraine into the global financial space are other problems - the low level of economic reforms, the underdevelopment of the country's financial market, the non-compliance of legislation and other regulations with international standards. The amount of international capital attracted by Ukraine at the first stages of martial law is summarized.
