CRYPTOCURRENCIES IN THE MONETARY SPHERE: TECHNOLOGIES, PERSPECTIVES AND SECURITY
Abstract
Abstract. The article reviews three stages of the evolution of money and the emergence of a new type of them – electronic money. The definition of the concepts of "electronic money", "cryptocurrency" is outlined. The analysis of existing cryptocurrencies is implemented, including the focuse on the most famous and most popular cryptocurrency – Bitcoin and its security system. The technology of functioning of cryptocurrencies – blockchain, which is the distributed register of events in the digital world, is considered in detail. The world experience of using cryptocurrencies is analyzed. It is assumed that as a result of the spread of cryptocurrencies, in the next 10-15 years the global financial system has all the chances to change radically.
